the category of “Reggae Recording of
the Year” for 2018.
“The Light” features collaborations
with top Jamaican reggae talent
including legends Sly Dunbar and
Lenky Marsden; acclaimed song-
writer Mikey Bennett and preeminent
producer Donovan Germain of
Penthouse Records and Natural High
Music. Ammoye sings of love, life and
justice, a lightworker and a soul rebel.
Rooted in the Reggae music of her
native Jamaica, Ammoye effortlessly
glides from Reggae and Dancehall to
Gospel, Soul and R&B with breathtaking ease and presence.

to work with some of the biggest
producers, Kim gained international
recognition when she was featured
on Payday Music Group’s “Bad Intro
Reloaded Riddim”. The latter lead to

she has developed a
strong Calypso, Jazz, Soul
and R&B vocal style. She
has the unique ability to
draw her audience in with
her
interactive
performance style.
In the Reggae Arena her
debut single “Breathe” won
her ‘Female New Comer of
the Year’ and ‘Single of the
Year’ at the 17th Annual Canadian Reggae Music Awards. She followed
that win with ‘Female Singer of the Year’ at the 18th Annual Canadian
Reggae Music Awards and a JUNO nomination. The following year she
won the JUNO for ‘Reggae Recording of the Year’ for the single “You
Won’t See Me Cry” and a ‘Female Singer Of the Year’ nomination at the
19h Annual Canadian Reggae Music Awards. The following year she
won a second Juno for her album “WYSIWYG”.
Not only does she write for herself but she has co-penned songs on the
“My Rules” album by Patria and the “Can’t Get over You” album by Pop
Sensation ‘3Deep’. Sonia describes her music as the “G-Pop Reggae
Sound” because it’s all about the empowerment of girls. You can catch
Sonia live locally singing with the Ska band ‘The Arsenals’. She’s
currently in the studio with G Block Records producer Duke Dawes,
working on her next body of work.
