Angele Smith is no stranger to
Canada and is currently on tour. After receiving a ReggaeXclusive Recognition Award for Top International Reggae Singer / Songwriter, he was given the illustrious opportunity to be a part of Toronto’ s monthly urban artists networking sessions better known as Stages. He was also able to represent a wellknown online radio station and media outlet at this year’ s Caribbean Tales launch which again is not unfamiliar territory for him, as you may be aware, he’ s also an actor and it was a pleasure
As he continues to travel between the provinces for various engagements, we say that Ottawa has been getting the best of him on this tour as he was one of the headliners for the Annual Ottawa Jam Day, represented the Karribbean Flava presentation at the Ottawa Latin American Festival and what may be a surprise to many, he was at the opening of the New Cultural Arts Studio where he presented the founder Susan Levertu with a surprise gift.
We are pleased to inform you that he will also be presenting at this year’ s Caribbean Music and Entertainment Awards followed by a performance at Jamaica’ s National Heroes Awards Gala presented by Jamaica( Ottawa) Community Association Inc on October 21st, 2017. So as you can see, Angele has been extremely busy giving audiences around the country a sample of what’ s to come from an upcoming movie, EP and an Art Exhibition. BOOM DONOVAN
Roderick Donavan Green who has been involved in music from he was a child was born August 6th, 1961. It is a fact that Donavan was given the name‘ Boom Donovan’ because as a child he was always playing the drums, hence his name. A notorious name brand in the music business worldwide, Boom Donovan took part in almost all his school concerts and which has made him a veteran in this business of music starting from the tender age of seven. He grew up with many of our acclaimed reggae artists and was inspired by Joe Higgs, Alton Ellis, Bob Marley & the Wailers, Hortense Ellis, Stranger Cole, Jackie Mittoo, Uroy, Ken Boothe and Jimmy Cliff all whom he knew very well.
When Boom Donovan was first trying to make it as a new artist, he was willing to take risks and aimed to excel at whatever he did. Donovan played percussion in the late 70’ s and 80’ s with Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff, Peter Tosh, Rising Sun, Bunny Wailer and Toots Hibbert. It was the group Rising Sun( consisting of Lloyd Montague, Winston Tracey and Chester Barrett) with whom he started singing harmony in 1976 along with playing percussion and recorded songs like“ Ain’ t No Stopping Us Now”, Uplifting Time” and many others still not released to date. He has also released several 7” records previously, his most known to date in London being“ Student of the Ghetto” and“ Don’ t Judge Me”, which all got a lot of airplay globally. His most recent single“ Rosie Posie” and“ Student of the Ghetto” album is now being distributed globally by VPAL Music.
