J Mixhoney is a reggae DJ
born in 1973 in Leicester City,
UK playing the best in reggae and
dancehall on Leicester city’s local
radio station for the community.
The radio station is called LCR
which stands for Leicester
Community Radio station and it is
based at Leicester’s African
Caribbean Centre. DJ Mixhoney
runs a show weekly which
endorses new and upcoming artists
from all over the world. Her new
artists are mainly from Jamaica,
USA, UK and Africa. She spends a
lot of her time mentoring artistes
and supporting them through
Social Media, she has a lot of
passion in this area of work. DJ
Mixhoney has been doing radio
hosting for the past 11years, she
taught herself through the love and
passion of music growing up
listening to many reggae shows on
local radio and listening to Motown
and RnB. She first started out in
2005 on an Internet radio show
called Inity Radio based in London
By 2007, DJ Mixhoney went on to
an Internet Radio in Brooklyn, New
York called Irie Explosion Radio.
Whilst playing on that radio, she
was spotted by a Canadian Sound
System call King Jewlius. Jugg
Head the owner, asked her to join
the Sound so Mixhoney started to
play in local dances under King
Jewlius’s Sound name, meeting
many new DJ’s like V Rocket, Love
Injection Sound, Sir Rodigan,
Wassifa Sound and Robba Ranks.
DJ Mixhoney also joined a team in
2008 called King Dread Promotions
and Jayone Productions where she
would DJ for local dances with live
artists on stage, meeting Flourgon,
Big Youth, Daddy Lizard, Jah
Thomas, Gappy Ranks, legend
John Holt and many more.
Currently, DJ Mixhoney is doing a
lot of work in the community with
“Can’t Blame Da Youth” which is
part of Jayone Productions and
recently took part in the Julian
Marley & Iba Mahr Concert in
Leicester UK at 2funky Music Café.
She is playing her unique
collections on Leicester community
radio every Wednesday from 6pm8pm UK time and 12-2pm
Jamaican time and 1pm-3pm USA
time.
