The l-shaped furniture arrangement was
a great way to provide ample worktop
space for this busy family home, as well
as bounce essential light around the room
thanks to the high-shine marble worktops
which naturally reflect the overhead
skylights and flush-fitting spot lights. This
practical kitchen layout also makes way
for direct access to the garden area via a
set of 3-pane patio doors, which naturally
mimic the rectilinear in-frame door fronts
and clear-cut furniture.
Clean lines and ease of use were key
directives for this project by Brandt Design,
and even though the kitchen is sited in
a newly-built extension, the homeowner
wanted the kitchen furniture and
appliances to be sensitive to the building’s
original history and character. For example,
the granary’s high ceilings gave Brandt a
great opportunity to maximise storage and
embrace the architectural features, rather
than ignore them.
