‘Two-tone’ custom kitchen by Brandt Design Leading British retailer, Brandt Design, unveil one of its most recent kitchen projects in Hertford, which occupies a new purpose- built extension in a large converted granary. Deliberately in a position of advantage, this custom in-frame kitchen is designed in the spirit of family without compromise to the finer details and/or spatial boundaries like the vaulted ceiling and two useable interior walls. Contemporary by colour, this two-tone painted kitchen features an l-shape arrangement of base units in dark Slate Grey which offer a modern interpretation of a typical Shaker-style kitchen décor. To define the cooking area, Brandt Design, chose to specify a cast iron cooker in stark white that traditionally is deemed classic, but in this case, creates a modern accent colour to the dark grey base units. Interestingly, marble countertops are predicted as the ‘go-to’ for 2020 kitchen design and as pictured, the featured marble-effect quartzite work surfaces with matching upstands finish the run of l-shaped units, central island and custom- fit splashback behind the cooker. To complete the cook-zone, Brandt fashioned a personalised overmantel that is inscribed with the homeowner’s house name ‘The Granary’, which is offset by its Pure Grey 12 - www.refurbandrestore.co.uk finish also shown on the full-width wall cabinets, bi-fold door larder storage and deck-mounted display unit. Taking centre-stage is a square kitchen island in dark grey painted finish, which is elegantly designed with a sweeping curved countertop to accommodate four diners without consuming valuable floorspace. Designed to work as a central hub for entertaining, this large island unit features an integrated wine cooler for bar-style comfort, alongside a mix of low-level cupboards and drawers to keep both the kitchen surfaces and island unit free from clutter: it also sits directly opposite the wall- mounted flat screen TV for uninterrupted viewing.
