A showstopping extension
Halcyon Interiors' Louise Richardson worked
with the owners of this stunning property
to create a sleek, but dramatic kitchen that
blended with the bold architectural style of
this newly extended home.
The monolithic design was created using tall
cabinets in black, and handleless doors along
the entire length of one wall, rising up to meet
the sky-light providing clean-lined simplicity
and drama. The dark, warm graphite colour
adds definition to this room which is naturally
flooded with light throughout the day.

A large island to balance the dominance
of the full-height cabinetry and to provide
space for cooking and food prep completed
the sleek look of the design. Flush fit
hob and built in ovens render the kitchen
both functional and slick. A connected,
rustic dining table contrasts with the sleek
cabinetry and completes this kitchen with an
impressive centerpiece.
A matt lacquer for the tall cabinets and subtly
textured stone-effect structured laminate
for the island, with completely flat quartz
worktop, emphasise the simple look.
The ceiling is paneled to match the cabinetry
for a sleek, continuous ‘up and over’ effect. A
‘letter box’ cut framed the view in front of the
