Plasiax™ – an emerging family of innovative plastics making glass a thing of the past TBS are a 25 year established company based just north of London. Over the past few years, we have developed and innovated standard materials into new architectural hybrids to bring properties of virtually unbreakable PC alongside the visual possibilities of glass. Typically glass and the different types of pattered glass are available but as dangerous breakable products, which add challenging dimensions to design work for effectual and interior glazing. This is where we and Plasiax™ comes in! Plasiax™ Wire is our Georgian Wire Glass Replica. It’s a 6mm obscure polycarbonate with a wire print to the rear to imitate the Gw effect. Why use this? 72 - www.refurbandrestore.co.uk For decades GWG has been labelled as safety glass due to the areas of application it was used but in reality it is not safe at all, especially when involving human impact. • The 0.5mm steel mesh that is laminated into the product acts as flaw lines, creating weaknesses in the glass • When penetrated, the wires hold small particles of glass that can lacerate skin and flesh which is made worse when the object is retracted • It’s heavy and therefore creates a safety issue when handling • Cut glass leaves sharp edges and exposed wires • Unfit for use in interior design where edges are exposed
