Refurbishment and Restore Issue 15 2019 | Page 28

Motspur Park, Surrey A detached 1930’s dwelling in Motspur Park, KT3, underwent a substantial internal make-over involving front, side, and rear extensions. The original layout of the dwelling was typical of its era with two ground floor formal reception rooms, kitchen, utility and even and outside toilet! Upstairs it had 2 double bedrooms, 2 singles and a small family bathroom. The existing space had simply outgrown its requirements for a modern, expanding family. I worked with my client on a one-to- one basis taking a detailed brief as to the requirements. I was given a pretty flexible hand at what I could design with the only caveat being the front façade should match the traditional street scene deviating from a traditional form to the remainder of the dwelling. 28 - www.refurbandrestore.co.uk
