Materials: Due to the sensitive location and age of the property, materials were chosen to match the surroundings, with slate roof and stone walls. However, the opportunity was taken to incorporate large areas of glazing to increase the sense of light and space, and take advantage of the magnificent views. Sustainability: Using traditional local materials is a sustainable from of building, as they are readily available and do not have to be manufactured or transported long distances. The local labour force is also familiar with their use, which facilitates the build.
