pharmacists. The renovation project for the five warehouses presents several challenges, from the current condition of the membranes, which are now outdated, to the particularities of each warehouse( all buildings have different square footage). In addition, for some warehouses the re-roofing projects also involve the installation of photovoltaic systems.
The main focus was on enhancing the thermal performance of these warehouses, which is crucial for maintaining controlled temperatures essential for storing pharmaceuticals.
The project of the renovation of the roof of the company’ s warehouse in Colmar was designed by the renowned architect Pierre Brugnoni of HBI & HÊTRE architecture who recommended a transition from the outdated bitumen membrane to advanced cool roof solutions for the covering of the 2,800 sqm area.
The main focus was on enhancing the thermal performance of these warehouses, which is crucial for maintaining controlled temperatures essential for storing pharmaceuticals. The Colmar warehouse, the first of five to undergo transformation, set the stage with an upgrade to RENOLIT ALKORPLAN roofing products’ state-of-the-art Bright membrane. This membrane, with its exceptional Solar Reflectance Index( SRI) of 115, significantly reduces cooling demands, enhances photovoltaic efficiency, and maintains optimal insulation.
Elevating standards through training and sustainability initiatives
Beyond providing high-performance materials, RENOLIT ALKORPLAN roofing products is committed to supporting its partners with comprehensive training programs. Beaume Toiture Terrasse, the installation company, faced challenges with limited personnel.
“ We responded to this call for tenders and our proposal was accepted. At that point, however, the problem was that I only had three welders in my team”, explains Olivier Beaume, Managing Director of Beaume Toiture Terrasse Fils, a longstanding RENOLIT ALKORPLAN customer.“ So, I decided to call the RENOLIT ALKORPLAN training centre to train six more people.
The trainer came to our premises and enabled us to have a team of welders capable of making such area”, he adds.
RENOLIT ALKORPLAN roofing products addressed this problem by delivering specialised training through their expert at the client’ s site in Belfort. This initiative equipped additional personnel with the necessary skills, ensuring the project was completed efficiently and to the highest standards.
“ Our focus was on imparting practical skills and knowledge about the membrane’ s technical details. We covered everything from understanding the specifications on the membrane’ s label to mastering advanced welding techniques. This ensures that the installation not only meets but exceeds industry standards”, says Stéphanie Peltier, Trainer at RENOLIT ALKORPLAN roofing products.
Enhancing the project’ s sustainability, RENOLIT ALKORPLAN’ s COOL3 campaign, in collaboration with Treedom, showcases a strong commitment to environmental stewardship. For every 100 m ² of RENOLIT ALKORPLAN Bright sold, a tree is planted, contributing significantly to carbon reduction. In this project, the campaign allowed to absorb 9,636 kg of CO2 so far.
RENOLIT‘ s involvement in the CERP project not only enhances the energy efficiency of its facilities but also exemplifies a broader commitment to sustainability in the pharmaceutical sector. This initiative showcases how advanced materials and strategic training can drive both performance and environmental responsibility, setting a new standard for future projects.
