Windmill restoration turns to Bradite

A 300-year-old windmill that now provides luxury accommodation for short-break holidays has been refreshed with Bradite paints .
The structure sits atop Blackthorn Hill at Bicester in Oxfordshire . The Grade II-listed building is a stone-built tower mill that was first converted into a house in 1999 . In recent years it has been transformed into a luxurious holiday let by its new owner , Alan Chapman .
Looking for help and advice for the protection of the exterior , he turned to Bradite .
“ The Bradite team recommended using Bradite One Can for external walls , due to its quick-drying abilities and longevity ”, Alan explains .
Both were important considerations , especially as Alan painted the external window frames at the top of the tower himself , which he described as “ not an easy job and not for the faint-hearted .” A durable coating was required so that the finished result would stand the test of time
Bradite One Can was the ideal choice for the project , as it provided an easy-to-apply yet tough and professional finish .
Alan explains , “ Bradite has been used on masonry , iron , wood and is a joy to work with , due to quick-drying times and being water-based ”.
