And I thought that was an
eventful year . . .
When I arrived at Siena Heights University last
January, I was told it was going to be quite an
eventful year.
Boy, was that an understatement.
Here is just a brief rundown of what has occurred
at Siena during the past several months:
• Sister Peg Albert, OP, Ph.D., was named the
10th president and was inaugurated Nov. 3;
• Campus Village, a residential housing facility,
was completed last August and is redefining
campus life;
•
Benincasa Dining Hall underwent a complete
renovation and the climate-controlled environ-
ment has transformed the dining experience at
Siena Heights;
• Barnes & Noble refurbished the Archangelus
Ballroom and currently operates a campus
bookstore that is second to none in the region.
• New roofing to most of the main campus build-
ings has been installed and the interiors have
been revitalized with paint and new carpeting;
Is that enough? The answer is no. In fact, it’s just
the beginning.
Sister Peg’s inaugural message of “Be Bold. Think
Higher”is the springboard to bigger and better
things for Siena Heights. Her job as president is
to unlock the untapped potential that is Siena.
Our job, as faculty, staff and administration, is
to make sure that potential is realized.
While the newness of Sister Peg’s arrival is wearing off, the excitement on campus is just beginning
to swell. In fact, the anticipation of greater things
to come is tangible.
