Come Home to the Heights!
Lots of alumni did — making Alumni Weekend Oct. 3-5
a big success.
The 50th reunion attracted a good group of former
classmates and friends; Jane Korte Waldo ‘53 and
Jodie Screes, OP ‘53 helped plan the event. The 25th
reunion generated a lively turnout thanks to the efforts
of Vince Houle ’78. The 20th “era” reunion brought a
large group together for beer and brats; Mark DiPietro
’83 worked hard on the event with help from Mo Brady
Leonard ’83 and Patty Ceglio Bishoff ’83.
Those were the days! Members of the 50th and 55th year classes after breakfast: (seated, from left) Mary Ann Senkmeyer Kitchen ’53,
Connie Winters ’53, Barbaradell Way Kelley ’53, Clare Wrona Marcyan ’53, Joyce Jacobi Gohl ’53, Katharine Rink Suydam ’48;
(standing) Rose Barbara Danich, OP ’53, Estela Cintron Kuptzin ’48, Gloria Kapsa Doyle ’53, Jodie Screes, OP ’53, Jane Korte Waldo ’53,
Mary Magdalen Boff ’53, Jean Annette Rudolph,OP ’53, Carole Sporer Stroh ’53.
Father John Keefer, OP ’72 brought his welcoming
spirit to Alumni Weekend mass, where he was joined
by alumni musicians including Bill Marshall ‘78, Kathy
Frank ’81 and Brenda Young Waters ’79 for a glorious
and moving liturgy. John also led a lively spirituality
discussion at Sunday’s first (annual?) Alumni Weekend
prayer brunch.
In another “first (annual?)” event, President Rick
Artman (background photo) stepped up to the plate and
biology prof Jun Tsuji hit a homerun—but the alumni
still beat the faculty-staff team in the Alumni Weekend
softball game.
There were miles of smiles at Siena Fest, Celebrate
with the Sisters, reunion dinners around campus, the
Saints Hall of Fame induction banquet, Saturday night’s
Octoberfest and Sunday morning’s golf scramble.
If you missed it this year, plan now to be here for
Alumni Weekend ’04. We’re planning even more next
year, in celebration of Siena’s 85th year. So mark your
calendar: Friday-Sunday, Sep. 24–26, 2004
