Commencement 2000
ommencement season bubbled
with excitement at Siena Heights
University which honored nearly
600 graduates at ceremonies held May 7 in
Adrian, May 13 in Benton Harbor and May
14 in Battle Creek. The graduation programs
honored candidates for associate, baccalaureate and master’s degrees who completed
their studies in August and December 1999
and May 2000, as well as those expecting
to complete degrees in August or December
2000.
Congratulations to the newest Siena
Heights alumni, whichever site you attended
and wherever you received your diploma!
At the Adrian campus Commencement,
Detroit Mayor Dennis Archer and Bishop
Ricardo Ramirez, CSB, of Las Cruces, NM,
received honorary Doctor of Humane Letters
degrees from Siena Heights.
May 7 in Adrian. Jeanetta, of Oak Park, earned
a bachelor of applied science degree in allied
health and nursing. Denisha, of Detroit, received a bachelor of applied science degree
in manufacturing technology.

Sister Act!
Sisters Stacie and Yolanda Merriweather of
Detroit should have no trouble keeping their
Commencement memories clear; what one
forgets, the other is sure to remember! The
sisters both graduated from Siena Heights
University’s Metropolitan Detroit Program
in May, earning master’s degrees in human
resource development. Stacie is a 1998
bachelor’s degree graduate of Wilberforce
University. Yolanda is a 1998 graduate of
the Metropolitan Detroit Program, where
she earned a bachelor’s degree in community
services.

SHU at JCC
The first graduates of the Siena Heights degree completion
program at Jackson Community College participated in Commencement ceremonies on the
main campus in Adrian May 7.
Among them was Cathy Shiel,
who celebrated with her mother,
Jean Scholl Boylan ‘61, an Adrian
