Phyllis Metz Doner ‘47 is a retired
librarian living in Grand Rapids.
Condolences go to Phyllis on the
recent death of her husband, Charles,
on March 7.
Rosemarie Van D’Elden Birman
‘47, a retired data processing
consultant and programmer living in
Ft. Lauderdale and Long Island, NY,
wrote in March: “My husband, Paul,
and I just returned from a fabulous trip
to Antarctica. Our journal is posted

Corinne Schafer Simonsen ‘56 now
lives in South Lyon and reports:
“Having just returned to Michigan to
retire, I lost my husband a year ago.
We have two children and six
grandchildren.”
Mary Morton ‘56 was featured
recently in Club 50, a monthly
newspaper for active adults over 50.
The article, “Artist overcomes medical
challenge to paint again,” chronicled
Mary’s triumph over a stroke which
affected one side of her body and her
