Margaret O’Gallagher Audy lives in
Clearwater, FL, with “the man of my
dreams, Bob Audy, to whom I have been
wed these past 48 years.” They have two
children and five grandchildren. Before
retiring to Florida, Margaret was very
involved in parish activities, including
serving as president of the Women’s Club,
singing in the Queen of Apostles Choir,
and working as organization services
chairperson of the Vicariate of the
Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women.
Anastasia Evelyn Capoun of Toledo
notes, “Siena was the beginning of a very
rewarding social work career” that began
at Catholic Charities and continued
through many years at St. Vincent
Hospital and Medical Center (SVMC).
She established and directed St. V’s
medical social work department, which
served as a model for other NW Ohio
health-care institutions, and saw St. V’s
through the establishment of an open door
policy for treating alcoholism and drug
abuse, development of treatment
standards for child and elder abuse, and
the advent of Life Flight and the social

work dimensions of treating victims of
trauma. She retired in 1984, having
received numerous social work honors
including a Distinguished Service Award
for Outstanding Contribution to the Field
of Welfare (1968) and an Outstanding
Health Professional of the Year Award
(1975). Since retirement, Evelyn has
stayed active as a volunteer with SVMC
Guild/Auxiliary, SVMC pastoral care
department, a neighboring nursing care/
rehabilitation facility, and her parish
church. “My sister Ann and I are the only
surviving members of our immediate
family, but we are anxiously awaiting the
birth of Ann’s 9th grandchild.”
Mary Duggan Cassabon of Eastpointe
was surprised to learn, at the Alumni
Weekend Presidents’ Luncheon, that she
is this year’s recipient of the Outstanding
Alumni Award. She will receive the
award this spring. Mary enjoyed a very
successful kindergarten teaching career,
including serving as president of the
Detroit Kindergarten Association. She
also co-founded the Young Child
Religion Program 33 years ago at St.
Veronica’s and has taught kindergarten
religion classes there ever since. Mary and
her husband, Bill, are very active in their
church. They also love to travel, including
an annual February stay in Florida and a
June visit to Crystal Lake. Mary and Bill

have one son, two daughters, and two
grandchildren.
Beatrice Krippene Conklin of Bloomfield
Hills taught in the public schools for 40
years, during which time she also earned a
master’s degree in early American history.
After
