Letters to the Editor “As I read the Reflections newsletter, I pondered the changes since I left in 1973. I have sent many students to Siena over the years, including a daughter, son and daughter-in-law. All three are teachers, and I’m proud they graduated from Siena. The worry I have is that the standards just are not the same. ...the old lessons of the nuns have served me well. Your newsletter showed many of the old guard; how many do you have teaching like that today? The name change—was it worth it? Don’t forget the non-trads (non-traditional students) and remember that progress does not have to trample the best practices of the past.” John B. Irelan ‘73 Pittsford, MI “The Siena newsletter is very interesting. Blessings. I loved the pictures of former faculty — Sister Benedicta Marie, in particular.” Margaret Gleason Flanagan ‘44 Milwaukee, WI Alumni Weekend ..................................... 40 Alumni Board President Judy Lavelle ‘58 Vice President Debra Parish Spann ‘89 Past President Mary Hellner Lash ‘88 Board Members Amanda Adams ‘97 Donna Kisner Baker ‘84 Petrina Biondo ‘72 Diane Moro Deveau ‘70 Elizabeth Dolan, OP ‘46 Cindy Doyle ‘72 Joann Phillips ‘93 (LMC) Earl Reber ‘88 (LMC) Lawrence Richardson, Jr. ‘76 Susan Strupulis ‘95 (KCC) Honorary Member Sr. Marie Irene Miller, OP, ‘36 Reflections Staff Editor: Jennifer Hamlin Church Assistant Vice President for Communications and Constituent Relations Graphic Designer: Richard T.
