Living Entities
In Vedic literature the living entity is called jévätmä and Brah-
man, but he is never called Parabrahman. The living entity (jévät-
mä) takes different positions—sometimes he merges into the dark
material nature and identifies himself with matter, and sometimes
he identifies himself with the superior, spiritual nature. Therefore
he is called the Supreme Lord’s marginal energy. According to his
identification with material or spiritual nature, he receives a
material or spiritual body. - BG 8:3, purport -
There are two classes of beings, the fallible and the infallible.
In the material world every living entity is fallible, and in the
spiritual world every living entity is called infallible. - BG 15:16 -
The similar characteristics of the soul and Supersoul are that they
are both conscious, eternal and blissful. But the difference is that
the individual soul is conscious within the limited jurisdiction of
the body whereas the Supersoul is conscious of all bodies. The
Supersoul is present in all bodies without distinction.
