Yoga (Cont’d) The purpose of practising eightfold yoga is to control the mind in order to make it a friend in discharging the human mission. Unless the mind is controlled, the practice of yoga (for show) is simply a waste of time. One who cannot control his mind lives always with the greatest enemy, and thus his life and its mission are spoiled. - BG 6:6, purport - No one can perform correct yoga practice through sex indulgence. - BG 6:13-14, purport - There is no possibility of one’s becoming a yogé, O Arjuna, if one eats too much or eats too little, sleeps too much or does not sleep enough. - BG 6:16 - He who is regulated in his habits of eating, sleeping, recreation and work can mitigate all material pains by practising the yoga system. - BG 6:17 - - 158 -
