Anything performed without the direction of the Vedas is called
vikarma, or unauthorized or sinful work. Therefore, one should
always take direction from the Vedas to be saved from the reaction
of work. - BG 3:15, purport -
A Krishna conscious person does not make much endeavor even
to maintain his body. He is satisfied with gains which are obtained
of their own accord. He neither begs nor borrows, but he labours
honestly as far as is in his power, and is satisfied with whatever is
obtained by his own honest labour. He is therefore independent in
his livelihood. - BG 4:22, purport -
Perform your prescribed duty, for doing so is better than not work-
ing. One cannot even maintain one’s physical body without work.

The Personality of Godhead replied: The renunciation of work
and work in devotion are both good for liberation. But, of the two,
work in devotional service is better than renunciation of work.
