Renunciation
Merely renouncing all activities
yet not engaging in the devotional service
of the Lord cannot make one happy. But a
thoughtful person engaged in devotional
service can achieve the Supreme
without delay. - BG 5:6 -
The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: One who is unat-
tached to the fruits of his work and who works as he is obligated
is in the renounced order of life, and he is the true mystic, not he
who lights no fire and performs no duty. - BG 6:1 -
For a sannyäsé, the first qualification should be fearlessness. Be-
cause a sannyäsé has to be alone without any support or guarantee
of support, he has simply to depend on the mercy of the Supreme
Personality of Godhead. If one thinks, “After I leave my connec-
tions, who will protect me?” he should not accept the renounced
order of life. - BG 16:1-3, purport -
