This great work continues with our team continuing to knock on doors in our communities and visit with employers who have expressed interest in working with our population . These employers are committed to looking beyond what an individual has done but looking forward to what they can do .
Over 550 employment resources willing to offer opportunities to individuals under supervision .
Through continued partnership with community employers via job fairs and collaborations , there have been over 8500 employment referrals and employment linkages for individuals under supervision .

In the United States , over 600,000 individuals are released from prison annually and three-quarters of them are rearrested within five years of their release . They have difficulty securing and maintaining employment after reentry since employers are reluctant to hire people with criminal records . In addition to a criminal record , limited education , the stigma of incarceration and a lack of employment history contribute to limited employment opportunities .
However , the challenge is met in Georgia with our team continuing to knock on doors in our communities and visiting with employers who have expressed interest in working with our population to meet the growing need of employment opportunities .
TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIFE OF ANOTHER HUMAN BEING IS TO HAVE TRULY SUCCEEDED . I HAVE THE PRIVILEGE OF ASSISTING RETURNING CITIZENS ON A DAILY BASIS WITH MUCH NEEDED RESOURCES , INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO , HOUSING RESOURCES , EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES , EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES , FOOD ASSISTANCE , HEALTH INSURANCE AND HEALTH CARE RESOURCES . TO SEE THE GRATITUDE ON AN INDIVIDUAL ' S FACE OR HEAR THE APPRECIATION IN HIS / HER VOICE MAKES MY JOB EVEN MORE REWARDING . COMMUNITY COORDINATORS ARE THE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL FOR MANY RETURNING CITIZENS AS WE STRIVE TO MAKE THEIR JOURNEY BACK INTO OUR COMMUNITIES A SUCCESSFUL ONE .
