The best of Uruguayan carnival
Three months, read well, three, carnival lasts in Uruguay. In duration, there is no country that wins. Between January and March there are any number of carnival events everywhere, but the one I liked the most was the Canbombe Call Parade along Isla de Flores Street in Barrio Sur.
It was the African slaves who brought their drums to the conventillos of Barrio Sur and they taught the Uruguayans the Candombe ... and it was the Uruguayans who made it a colorful nocturnal spectacle ... and they are travelers from different places who come every year to dance it

The parade happens at the end of Isla de Flores, at which point the drummers of the many competing troupes redouble the peal to close their presentation, but they continue the street party for the rest of the night.
