EDD: Who are you and what do you do?

Vitul: My name is Vitul Music & I am a rapper from Chicago, IL. I am not the typical Chicago rapper. I love dipping into different genres such as Hip-Hop, R&B, Pop & Dance music. My music reflects real life obstacles. I speak upon the real not the ideal.

REDD: What role does the artist have in society?

Vitul: Every artist plays a big role in today's society. If you look at what’s being sold in stores and things being shown on television, the majority of those things were influenced by the hip-hop culture; jewelry, tattoo's, headphone's, cologne's, etc. Even the NBA has become a part of the hip-hop culture. The young generation see's us as role models. Those who were raised without fathers or even a mother, those kids watch what we do. They learn from us. They follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. They watch our every move.

REDD: Describe a real-life situation that inspired you?

Vitul: When I was 19 yrs. old my grandmother passed. She passed a few days before my birthday. She never really approved of me doing hip-hop music because we were raised in the church but she accepted it. She always told me to do what I love and to never let anyone stop me. I took her passing pretty hard and that's when I became more passionate about my craft. It was my way to let out my hardships & frustrations.

REDD: Name three artists you’d like to be compared to.

Vitul: Honestly I do not want to be compared to anyone. I would like to be that one artist that has his own flavor, own style, and when you hear his music you know it's him. But if I had to choose, I would choose my 3 favorite artists.....Twista, T.I. & Eminem. Twista mastered his flow and is a very under-rated. His lyrical delivery & vocabulary is bananas. T.I. Made his name as king of the south, no one can take that crown from him. Eminem is my most favorite because to be a white rapper and bust out on the scene the way that he did and run hip-hop from his first album to now is crazy. He changed the game in so many ways. This guy pretty much ruined careers for so many other rappers loll.

REDD: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?

Vitul: Never do anything you love for money and fame because when all of that runs out what do you have left? With passion & drive comes the money & fame.
