Dancing is a way of discovering yourself. Maybe it is a relaxing activity for doing in the spare time, like a hobby, or maybe it is a lovely thing for your life and you see yourself doing it in the future, as you were gifted for it. When it comes to a future career, some advices are welcome for guiding or motivation. According to that, here are some advices of a dancer who have experience to talk about the urban dance/ street dances:
- Samuel Visi Santana, aka Sassá, is a Brazilian professional dancer who is director of a company called PS Brazil, since 2009, when it was created by him and his wife, Poliana. Samuel has been dancing since he was a child, when he was 12 years old (participating in a dance group at his church), he had firmly decided that dance would be part of his life, since then he started studying about it.
- Sassá graduated at UNICAMP as a dancer. The experience of doing the curse was amazing for him, since he could employ a lot of his knowledge in dancing.
- When it comes to a life career, he says that it must be done to please oneself and not to be done for someone else. It needs to be a particular passion.
- Even in this body language career, studying has to be always included in life. Dancing is extensive in content; it has always something new to be learned according to him.
- Sometimes, money turns into a priority when people are searching for a career. Taking that into consideration, money can become a problem by choosing dancing, but Sassá does not see it that way, as long as one loves what he or she does.
- He faced some difficulties during his career, like money (as mentioned before) and a lack of infrastructure for practicing, but he carried on.
- “There are many choices”, according to him. Performance dancer, director, choreographer and rehearsing teacher. Those who really love the art have many option where to chose from!
