Letter from the Editor
This issue marks the one year anniversary of
the Red Apple Reading magazine, and we still
love the process of putting content and stories
together for every issue! We hope you continue
to enjoy the reading content, reviews, and stories.
Beginning this month you’ll see longer
storybooks, as we increase the page count of
our leveled readers from eight to ten pages.
We hope you are entertained with Ellie Goes
Back to School – it’s the first of a new writing
collaboration with my oldest daughter!
We also share six popular book series this
month, an easy weeknight meal paired with a
back-to-school read, and a book review of Tikki
Tikki Tembo (a favorite read-aloud in our house
for many years). The Reading Specifics article
explains how parents can encourage a balanced
approach to literacy at home. Other parent
resources include ways to get your toddler
reading, tips to help your child find a good
book, the calendar lineup, and some fun literacy
activities for families at home.
Enjoy whatever time remains with your little ones
before they head back to school. Summer goes
by fast when you are having fun!
Sincerely,
Tammy Bennecke
