There are many different churches, with all major religious sects represented, throughout the Des Moines area. There are also many religious students on campus, with clubs that you can join if you so choose. DMU prides itself in having a very diverse student body, and more importantly, having a very open and accepting atmosphere towards all groups of people. If you are ever looking for a place of worship, it really is as easy as asking any of your upper classmen. Even if the person you ask doesn’t know about your specific inquiry, they will most likely know of a student or faculty member that they could refer you to, who would be of help. If all else fails, you can always contact Dr. Rich Salas who is the head of the Department of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs, who is always more than happy to assist students.
