K
asey Compton opened Mindsight Behavioral
Group as an outpatient counseling center
in 2015. Prior to earning her master’s in
counseling, Compton had worked as a public
school teacher. She came into counseling for
the opportunity to overcome the boundaries
to teaching and emotional health that are prevalent in the
public school system.
Compton was inspired to pursue a new career path after
working as a teacher for five years. Having been faced with
physical and emotional well-being concerns for her students
every day and feeling powerless to help them, Compton
returned to school to complete her master’s degree in
counseling. She purchased and renovated the first Mindsight
location while she was still completing her master’s degree,
so the business was ready to go by the time she graduated.
Her practice has expanded into 17 counties since 2017.
Partnering with public schools across Kentucky has enabled
Mindsight to operate with only six physical offices. The large
group of clinicians that work at Mindsight Behavioral Group
are all specialized, and working together makes services
available to a large and diverse population of patients.
In 2017, after two years of relying solely on common sense
to run her practice, Compton began to feel overwhelmed by
a lack of understanding of the company’s financial position.
