Welcome
We have three reception classes at Linthorpe Community Primary school:
• Class RT Mrs A Travers
• Class RR Mrs R Richardson
• Class RO Mrs K Ormston
Each class has a teacher and teaching assistant to help guide and support your child
to reach their full potential in all aspects of learning and to have a happy, secure,
safe and interesting start to their school life.
In addition to the class teachers, Mrs Maddison and Mrs J Richardson also teach in
the reception classes.
The classrooms are set up to develop independence, where children are
encouraged and taught to access equipment and materials without adult help. We
strive to promote a learning environment that supports this.
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum as required by statute. This
follows on directly from the work started in your child’s pre-school setting. We
receive records from all pre-school settings to ensure continuity and progression in
learning. Your child’s experience as he/she enters reception will be similar to that
of nursery, becoming more formal as the year progresses.
