What are some of your current projects
you are working on - including Inside Edition and the upcoming film “Redeemed”?
coverstory
Acting has always been a fun hobby of mine,
and I am thrilled to be working on a few
projects right now. I play a small role in the
film “Redeemed” which comes out Fall 2014.
It is about the real struggles facing marriage
today. I’m also filming a pilot show in Nashville - A drama called “Mafia Law” that I’m
super excited about - I play the District Attorney and its kind of like “Sons of Anarchy
meets The Godfather”. I also founded a film
club in NYC - www.enlightenfilmclub.com
- I host advance film screenings for faith and
family-friendly films coming to theaters soon
in hopes of getting them more exposure. And
I’m in the process of writing a book on being
believer and female in the media industry.
You see her every night as a correspondent for the national television show “INSIDE EDITION.” Wife, mom, and professional,
Megan reveals how she balances life, faith, & family.
How did you become a Christian? Did you grow up in a
Christian home? What is your favorite Bible verse?
I was raised in a Christian home in Seattle, WA, and attended a nondenominational Christian School K-12 called King’s in Seattle. I really
claimed my faith in Jesus Christ for myself in about the 7th grade. Favorite verses: Psalm 119:105 “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and light
unto my path.” and Luke 1:37 “For nothing is impossible with God”.
What is it like being a Christian in a secular dominated entertainment industry? How do you stay true to your Christian faith?
What do you find most rewarding about
your marriage and being a mom?
It is not hard because God is everywhere - even if sometimes He seems
hard to find. He is alive and well in the entertainment industry. There
are good people doing great work today in films and television. I believe
God blessed me with talents and abilities in this particular industry, and
I really enjoy what I do. I want to be known for “good work” first, and
let my actions speak for themselves. I stay true to my Christian faith by
worrying about myself and not judging others. I focus on being the best
“me” I can be. I try and treat people as I would want to be treated. I also
stay active in my church, and have a wonderful weekly Bible study in
NYC with other women in the media. Friendship is so important - “as
iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another” - Proverbs 27:17.
People ask me all the time what the key to my
success is. I have one answer: a supportive
husband. My husband Brian is my teammate.
We have each others backs. This is so precious to me in this world. My job requires me
to travel and he is very supportive of this. For
the past 4 years now, I have covered the Super
Bowl. While I’m off on location, interviewing
celebrities and football players, he is changing diapers back home. He believe in my
dreams and is my biggest cheerleader. And I
do the same for him - marriage is about “give
and take”. We believe our marriage is a big
testimony in today’s world. I thank God for
him every day. We have a delightful little 2
year old boy named Chace. He is a joy and reminds me what life is all about. There is nothing like coming home from work, all dressed
in my heels and make-up, and having my son
open the door, give me the biggest hug, and
immediately ask if I will lay on the floor and
race “cars” with him, heels and all. I love it!
Has there ever been a time when you had to decline work or a
project that compromised your Christian faith?
This is a great question. Yes, there have been times when I was uncomfortable with a particular story or project. Here is what I do: First, I write
out the “pros and cons” list. Then, I seek the advice of my “wise counsel”
- other Christian friends. Then I consider talking to my boss about it and
honestly sharing my feelings. Good communication is really important.
But I also remember that I may be uni ]Y[H\]Z\Y
