Robles takes over as Real Oviedo Boss

Following a poor 2-2 draw with Marino, Real Oviedo parted ways with manager José Carlos Granero. Granero, who joined Oviedo in March 2013, is nicknamed ‘The Promotion Doctor’, however he failed to have success at Oviedo this season, bouncing around the 3-5 spots and just one loss away from their season total last year. Granero’s departure seemed looming for weeks, with supporters growing restless about the team’s inconsistency, especially at home where the club has one of the worst records in the league. Racing Santander's Paco Fernández and former Mexico manager Hugo Sánchez were strongly linked to the role, however Oviedo chose to promote from within. After Real Oviedo defeated promotion rivals Real Avilés and CD Guijuelo, Oviedo promoted interim manager and former U19 manager Robert Robles to the role of manager until the end of the season.
