What Will Your Legacy Be?

It is that time of the year when we begin to think about all the amazing legacy’s that have been left
for us to be proud of. The reminders of how many have trail blazed a path for all of us to follow.
We have so many people to be grateful for and so many to follow an example of how we could
move forward. So my thought right now is, are we truly following the examples that were set
before us? What are we currently doing in our lives that one day someone is going to look back
and be reminded of the paths they can follow. Whenever I think of how important it is to give back
to our communities I think of what the Bible says in Titus 2:1­8:
1­6 “Your job is to speak out on the things that make for solid doctrine. Guide older men into lives
of temperance, dignity, and wisdom, into healthy faith, love, and endurance. Guide older women
into lives of reverence so they end up as neither gossips nor drunks, but models of goodness. By
looking at them, the younger women will know how to love their husbands and children, be
virtuous and pure, keep a good house, be good wives. We don’t want anyone looking down on
God’s Message because of their behavior. Also, guide the young men to live disciplined lives.
7­8 But mostly, show them all this by doing it yourself, incorruptible in your teaching, your words
solid and sane. Then anyone who is dead set against us, when he finds nothing weird or
misguided, might eventually come around.”
When I read this, it brings some things to mind:
1. We have a responsibility, it says in the first verse, “Your job is to . . . this says we have been
given a mandate, a job to do what is a valuable benefit to those who come behind us. That we
become the today example of a way to walk in a brand of dignity that brings about legacies worth
remembering.
2. The Word even tells how we should set these examples. God did not want us to be mistaken
about who the examples are walked out for. It says for the men we should live in such a
