I BELIEVE THAT STEER WILL BE THE MODEL THAT ALL OTHERS WILL COPY

And I say us, because we are in this together as one big family. I feel that one of the reasons Jordan has benefitted from STEER is because I’m a pain in the butt!!! Of course I mean that in a good way, I’m always communicating with the communications directors Byron Womack and Jordan Eck, being pains in their collective butts on ideas I have, checking on what’s next for not only my Jordan, but for the program as a whole, and I encourage you all to do the same. To reach out to your child’s advisor, reach out to Mr. Womack or to Jordan, to anyone, and find out what’s going on in the program. I’m sure I’m not out of line in saying that they aren’t opposed to ideas you may have that could be beneficial to our children, whether it’s a camp, college prep course, anything that you

think can be advantageous to him or to her. One of ideas that I’ve suggested was having meet and greets with just the parents, which they are open to doing, and hope you all are open to as well. Not only to share thoughts with the staff, but share experiences, develop relationships, really and truly become family. Because I believe the stronger the bond we develop as parents, the more successful STEER and of course our kids will become. I've seen our kids get together after these events and I love seeing the interaction between them. This needs to filter down to us. I believe that STEER will be the model that all others will copy. When Jordan was accepted into STEER, there were only 3 student-athletes in the program back in 2013, now

there’s over 40, with 4 area high schools now participating. Their goal is 100 student-athletes strong by 2020. I make mention of this, because I believe for that goal to be reached, we need to maintain the success started by Jazmin Acosta, and has continued with Steven Hernandez and Rayder Sanchez, Sam Brown, Monserrat Cardenas and Shannon Maguire, all who have made the transition from high school to college students. And as Jordan winds down his remarkable career at PC, and as a STEER student, I would love to see us as parents, coaches, advisors, everyone, especially you the student-athletes, to continue to come together as one, AS FAMILY, to continue the STEERing of this program to even greater heights!!!!
