How did you start wtih singing?

I heard Whitney Houston's voice as a little girl and became obsessed with wanting to sound like her. And then I started singing in the choir at age 7. I began to pursue music when my dad took me to a recording studio when I was 12 to make my first demo.

How did you get your start with acting?

I was singing somewhere and an agent heard me singing and she approached me and asked if she could be my agent. I booked my first role as a teenage drug addict on 100 Centre Street by the legendary Sidney Lumet. He had directed The Wiz and other big movies starring Al Pacino. He told me I was an amazing actress with a great career ahead of me. What an amazing way to kick off a career that I wasn't yet pursuing. After that, I ended

up in RENT on Broadway. And although, I was still trying to pursue music in the midst of all these things, acting roles kept coming.

How were you ble to ;land the role in "Norotious"

After I had been in RENT for years, I decided to take a leap of faith and left the show not knowing what I would do next. 2 weeks later, I got a call to audition to play Faith Evans. I immediately knew that it was my role!! I had sang her songs in my bedroom growing up! She was from Newark, NJ. And we looked similar enough. I thought I was gonna walk in and get part instantly!!! I did not! Lol I had 4 auditions and I had to fight for it! They wanted more famous actresses to play the role and I had to prove myself. I did.
