With all the things life throws at you it is completely understandable to fall of the trail leading to your dream body. One missed workout suddenly becomes one missed week and then you get on the scale and see that you have gained a few pounds, next thing you know you are unmotivated and less likely to return to the gym. That missed workout has snowballed into you canceling your gym membership and making every excuse under the sky. However, getting back on the path that will lead you to your dream body doesn’t have to be hard. Follow these five easy steps, and you will be back on track before any other excuse can stop you.
Set SMART goals and yourself up for success.
Big, hairy and audacious goals such as losing forty-five to fifty pounds can seem a bit overwhelming. Instead, give yourself a goal that you easily conquered that you cannot and will not fail. See most people try to climb a mountain before they even leave the house. So if you set SMART goals, it allows your success rate to be preeminent. S(specific) M(measureable) A(actionable) R(realistic) T (time bound). The specificity is important, as most people just say, “I am going to work out today”. Making that specific would be, “I am going to work out for 45 minutes today from 12:00pm-12:45pm, beginning with 10 minutes of cardio on the elliptical, then 35 minutes of strength/resistance training using all the machines as a total body circuit.” Measureable, is establishing concrete criteria for measuring progress towards the attainment of each goal you set.
