With the tragic news presented within the last few weeks of 2016 America learned of many celebrities who died from complications of heart disease and stroke; Alan Thicke, George Michael, Carrie Fisher, and her mother days later Debbie Reynolds.
According to the American Heart Association, heart disease is the No. 1 killer respectively in the U.S. today. Every 80 seconds a woman dies from heart disease. Although heart disease and stroke has dropped by 60% many are still dying from a broken heart.
We all have core values that we stand for; dreams, goals and desires we wish to achieve and or accomplish and we cannot achieve these desires with optimal potential until we recognize that our health is truly our wealth and take action. How many of you are the corporate mom, married with 2 children, or the single mother of 3 whom works a ”fully one job, have loads of laundry to fold, stressed about how you are going to manage your household funds for the month due to your kids sharing they need money for field trips, book fairs, and cleats for football. As your days run pass themselves you still stand and have faith that there is a better way, as you pray with your children before bed thanking God for another day.
Nearly 84 million U.S. adults suffer from cardiovascular diseases (CVD).1 These life- threatening conditions include coronary heart disease, heart failure, stroke, and high blood pressure. CVD was the cause of nearly 33% of all U.S. deaths and an underlying or contributing cause for about 55% of deaths in 2009.1 More than 2,100 people die of CVD each day—one death every 40 seconds.1 However, due in large part to NIH-funded research, death rates from heart disease and stroke have dropped by 60% and 70% respectively, since 1940.2
