Righteous Apples in a Sea of Angst

More than likely you’re wondering where I got the title for this piece
you’re about to read. Bear along with me…it’s gets better. A few years ago I
wrote a musical drama entitled, ‘What About
the Children?’
It poignantly epitomized the
plight of our adolescents and teens on the
threshold of young adulthood. First and
foremost, it’s always essential when smart
minds can navigate courses that we fail to
fathom where our children are concerned. The
world will tell you in no uncertain terms that our
kids are in a hurry to grow up, and it’s traumatic
when there’s seemingly no discipline in homes,
where schools perhaps have been lax in administering widespread values,
and the community for the most part has morphed into an unending
monstrosity eager to give them ‘straight outta somewhere’ that is all the
rage. All of the aforementioned are status quo, but are we working just as
hard to help young folk understand their worth, to help develop who they
are truly created to be? Fast forward to now, I’m looking through the tunnel
and I see light…but suffice it to say, I’m happy to admit that there are quite
a few people advocating for our children maximizing potential, as well as
parents being more accountable for what goes on in their households.
I welcome, and present to you, Dr. Jeri A. Dyson, erudite in her
various missions to educate, stimulate and stress why effective parenting
