According to Steve , the blueprint to building a successful company is relatively simple to understand , it is how you execute the plan that makes all the difference . “ We have built our success on the foundation of strong partnerships and collaboration , and it was an especially proud moment when we published our 2022 year-end results in February this year . Breaking through the R3 billion revenue barrier for the first time was a huge achievement for the Company ,” he says .
“ Balwin Properties has been a dream of mine since I was fourteen . After spending time learning the ropes as a civil engineer and project manager , I started the business 26 years ago with a 50-apartment development , The Ivory Court , in the South of Joburg . Looking back now I never imagined that we would achieve this incredible milestone . Credit for this success must go to the incredible team we have at Balwin Properties , my business partners , our investors as well as our suppliers and contractors for buying into our commitment to excellence .”

THE COVID CHALLENGE

“ The Covid Pandemic was obviously a difficult time for our industry and the country as a whole . But despite losing three months of construction time during lockdown , I am proud of the way the whole team pulled together to find a range of pragmatic solutions that we could implement during the restrictions . These included the launch of an online sales platform , exciting promotions and other unique incentives to continue to drive sales .”
“ All things considered , the residential market proved more resilient than many were expecting . The 275-basis point reduction in the prime lending rate and an increased preference to work from home had heightened demand for our new developments . As a result , our revenue for the financial year ended 28 February 2021 of R2.7
