TECHNOLOGY
Updates from around the world
A
nother day, another app or idea
promising industry-altering inno-
vation. Below, we round up some
of the real estate tech news that caught our
attention.
Eazi.com
A new player on the local market, eazi.com
offers property buyers and sellers a start-
to-finish online solution. At this stage only
available in the Cape Town area, plans are
in the works to launch nationally. From list-
ing your property, to professional photogra-
phy and drone imaging, the website offers
the user the ease of not having to worry
about a thing. Professional marketing of
the property - on leading sites like Private
Property - and automatic verification of
prospective buyers, leads to a simplified
online bidding experience. An exciting new
player in the field, eazi.com joins the likes
of PropertyFox and HouseMe in upending
the local property industry.
Ikea Place
Augmented reality is making a splash in
more than one arena. One of the more logi-
cal applications? Furniture purchases. Offer-
ing consumers the chance to visualise that
new couch or desk, the Swedish brand has
introduced its Ikea Place app. At this stage,
the app will be available on iOS, allowing us-
ers to access up to 2 000 of the store’s prod-
ucts. The app signals a widespread uptake of
the AR-technology, illustrating the potential
for the real estate industry.
Apple Park
The 2.8 Million-square-foot of space, set
in Cupertino, California, is Apple’s latest
statement to the world. Estimates place
the development cost around the $5 bil-
lion mark. True to Apple’s mission, the
campus features several state-of-the-art
features: running on 100% renewable en-
ergy, the park is home to one of the world’s
largest solar installations. It also features
the world’s largest panels of curved glass,
along with a visitors’ center equipped with
an augmented reality experience. As one of
the biggest names in tech, it’s interesting to
see where they go in terms of real estate.
