The Benefits of Mentorship and Coaching

O

ne of the biggest breakthroughs I made in
my investing career in real estate was when I
recruited a mentor to help guide me to taking
my investment strategy to the next level. We are not
taught on to how to handle our personal finances and,
more importantly, how to invest in real estate in schools
or university system. This tends to be the domain of
estate agents, real estate brokers and financial planners
who benefit from selling you their stock of properties,
products and services. The focus also tends to be
more on the how and the process and very little on
the strategy and psychology behind investing, which
accounts for more than 80% of your success.
Property investment is available for everybody
yet most people think it is an exclusive, inaccessible
possibility for the average South African and is still
considered a mystery. There are thousands of books,
seminars and online courses that all profess that real
estate investment will make you very wealthy but
relying on this alone without proper guidance can be
disastrous. Generally there is self-interest in the person
giving you the information and very little time is spent
on your personal strategy. Very few give you the proper
guidance and roadmap to able to take the right action
