Reflect on 2014 - Reset Your GPS
s we swiftly approach
the end of another
year, we have an
opportunity to reflect on the
progress we have made in
achieving our goals for 2014,
and to start thinking about
what we want to achieve in
2015.
Choosing your destination
for the new year and being
crystal clear about your
goals – this is absolutely the
most crucial step to getting
anywhere, and therefore the most important aspect of
achieving success.
FROM THE PUBLISHER
Don’t become distracted by trying to figure out the
“how” before you have chosen a destination. It is not the
“how” that is important when setting goals. The “how”,
more often than not, becomes evident once you know
where you are going. It is as if your attention and focus on
your destination draws people, processes and solutions to
help you get there.
Don’t neglect to choose a destination because you don’t
know “how” you will get there. The “how” will appear if
you know the destination, just like on a GPS. Once you
enter the exact address, the GPS will show you not only
how, but also the fastest or the shortest route.
Where there is a will there is a way. If you know exactly
where you are going, the “how” will become clear and, one
step at a time, you will undoubtedly get there.

Property is the Cornerstone of Wealth
S
outh Africa’s reputation
and economic prospects
are rapidly being eroded,
and we need to get our
government and our people
to start acting decisively to
arrest mediocrity. Nelson
Mandela instituted healthy
debate as the cornerstone
of democracy and also as a
key leadership skill. Open
debate seems to be lost now
under a leadership that is
more concerned with political
agendas than with leading
this country to prosperity and success. The ineffectiveness
of our government is really starting to have a negative
effect on wealth and investments.
The challenge facing local property owners and potential
property owners is that government is undermining our
property rights through instituting multiple legislative
measures and red tape, threatening both land ownership
and property rights. Agricultural land is under immediate
pressure, but essentially the legislation targets all types of
property. Property ownership, the cornerstone of wealth,
is now under severe risk in terms of the potential for land
and property owners to lose their rights. Read our indepth article on page 12, written by our award-winning
journalist Monique Terrazas, who has exposed this
significant concern. Not only do we question the validity
of pending legislation, but also share AfriBusiness’
5-point combat plan.
We have to take charge of our own destiny and stand
up for our rights. Many of the world’s economies are also
still struggling to get back on track. We need to focus and
take control of your own personal economy first.
