There’s major growth happening on the continent, which couples with opportunity for investors. If you look at countries like Tanzania, that’s showing a 9% growth, it stands to reason that there will be opportunity in both commercial and residential property. Looking at the local market, there’s a clear need for affordable and sustainable housing - including the township residential market. Another trend that shows great opportunity is the mixed-use model. The way in which we’re living is changing, and people want new solutions. Property is still the best game to be in if you want to make money in the long run, but you need to know where to get your information. Use that information to in- fluence your knowledge. Anticipate what people are going to want, and use that knowledge to make it a reality. If you’re looking to invest in the listed sector, do your homework. Look for companies with good management and indepen- dent and robust governance. Investigate the growth narrative and make sure it makes logical sense. There’s clear growth in the warehousing and logistics sectors, so funds that invest in those would be a good bet. As with any investment, it’s essen- tial not to put all your eggs in one basket. Diversifying your portfolio should be your top priority, and funds that follow that mantra are a good choice. 13 April to 15 June 2018 www.standardbank.com/SacredGeometry #SacredGeometry Standard Bank Gallery, Cnr Frederick and Harrison Streets, Johannesburg Monday to Friday 8am – 4.30pm and Saturdays 9am – 1pm.
