eet Amelia Beattie, the Chief Investment Officer since 2012 for
Stanlib which is an asset manager based in Johannesburg with
a footprint in seven African countries.
Amelia is responsible for managing Stanlib’s Direct Property
Investments Franchise. Amelia looks after assets under management in
excess of R30 billion including maintaining arguably Liberty’s proudest
tradition, the Liberty Property Portfolio), which is committed to
delivering risk adjusted returns to investors with a focus on large, quality
retail, hospitality and commercial properties. Amelia has been in the
property game for about 14 years and has a long list of accomplishments
behind her.
“I have been part of the world of property and property investing
since 1999 where I spent time in most disciplines in the property
industry learning how things work from managing a shopping centre, to
negotiating lease, to putting a development together all the way to putting
together an investment strategy,” she said.
Before joining Stanlib, Amelia had been with Old Mutual Property
for a decade and has extensive strategic and implementation experience
in all aspects of property fund management, including investments,
change leadership, risk management and international expansion and
development.
Besides being passionate about the property industry, Amelia is also
extremely passionate about educating women in the industry and is the
founder and trustee of the Women’s Property Network (WPN) Education
