IPD Global Golf Day
No birdies here – we’re golfing for rhinos!
After dinner and a charity auction the day’s activities
were declared a roaring success with almost R100 000
raised for the Poached Rhino Trust.

earl Valley Golf Estate was the venue of a
charity golf day in aid of the Poached Rhino
Charity (UK) and Trust (SA) on 17 April.

The players all did their best on course – although
they did have the luxury of being able to discount the
odd missed shot by saying that on the day it was about
bigger animals than birdies!
For what it’s worth though Kobus van der Merwe was
the overall winner and walked away with the Poached
Rhino trophy – donated by sculptor Otto du Plessis and
Ebony Art Gallery.

Graeme Oliver (Poached Rhino: Chairman) thanked

In a bit of unfinished business Poached Rhino is
looking for a prominent place in town for their lifesize fibre glass rhino to raise awareness of the terrible
slaughter of these iconic animals. They are also looking
for sponsors / supporters to have their logos put on it
and make it a more colourful and attractive feature.
Another golf day is planned for next year as well
as a gala on the weekend of 20-22 September for
World Rhino Day on 22nd. More information will
be available on the Poached Rhino website. Please
contact us if you would like to get involved or have any
ideas or would like to help to increase the footfall in
Franschhoek for the Gala weekend.
