Minimum investment amount for Grenadian citizenship drops
The only way to invest in Grenada’s Citizenship By Investment
Programme is through real estate investment. The minimum real
estate investment used to be $500 000 for a shareholding in the
ownership and operation of the entire hotel along with the right
to apply for one citizenship for one main applicant. However,
following much negotiation and heavy campaigning, the Grenadian
government have agreed to drop the minimum amount that
investors would need to purchase a shareholding from US$500 000
to just US$310 000.
The drop to US$310 000 is expected to open up the investment
opportunity to far more foreign investors, allowing them to take
advantage of the many benefits that the programme offers.

Over the past few years, Malta
has seen a drive by successive
governments to promote
the islands’ development as
a reputable international
business, financial and
maritime centre. The result
is that Malta complies with
the policies and directives of
international organisations
such as the OECD. Added
to this, Malta also enjoys an
excellent reputation and track
record and is not included on
any ‘black-list’ of tax havens.
Investors should maintain a
healthy skepticism, always do
their own research to doublecheck the facts presented and
only invest monies they can
afford to lose. This is simply
because all forms of investing,
including property investing,
carries risks. As the common
saying goes, “There is no free
lunch in this world”. More often
than not, when the deal seems to
good to be true, it often is.
While it was a relatively untapped
region over a decade ago, with
economies too badly managed for
there to be any real opportunity
for companies with integrity,
there has been a massive shift
towards encouraging foreign
investment in Africa and the
continent is on the move. Today
many large businesses are seeing
the potential that the continent
is currently yielding and are
eager to expand into the region
and take full advantage of the
opportunities that are presenting
themselves.
