he new economy demands more of investors
today than ever before. Investing in any type
of real estate category is generally forgiving
provided you don’t over leverage yourself and you
don’t get the timing wrong. Today we are now moving
into a more volatile and competitive market. The old
‘get rich quick’ methods promoted which dominated
the last decade have become dated.
At REIM we have taken an aversion to some ‘real
estate gurus’ who get in-between the gullible to
sign them up for expensive education programmes.
We discovered that many were not selling any real
value other than old recycled ideas and information
from the Internet disguised as new groundbreaking
knowledge. Instead most are just property sales agents
incognito promoting so-called incredible investment
properties. The benefit for them is that they earn
substantial commissions on property sales without
being responsible for your investment destiny. The
imminent property sale on offer becomes more
important for them than maximizing you a profitable
investment portfolio and offering you an effective
property education process.
The hype and promise of making you into an
overnight millionaire is distasteful when in actual
fact it is actually about personal growth, growing
your personal finances, practically learning how to
invest hands on, understanding the fundamentals and
using checklists with simple executable steps. Also,
you have to ask how accessible they are when you need
them. Google your education sources and partners to
verify their credentials and to see if they are acting in
your interests.
Psychology has a lot to do with the on-going success
of long-term investors. You have to take 100% control
over your investments and more importantly you need
to be empowered to make your own decisions and not
just let others advise you and make decisions on your
behalf. Listen to all the known advisors out there
w
