Mayor of the City of Johannesburg.
Announced on 1 December 2016 the Inner City Construction Site Project seeks to take
back the city, hijacked by criminal syndicates, and use this an opportunity to provide low-
cost affordable housing, student accommodation and rental space for SMMEs. It also aims
to attract investments back into the inner city; and create employment opportunities and
artisan training. Many of the large corporates located down town have also committed to
re-investing in the area. The City has recently witnessed the private sector, on their own,
investing for the first time since 1994 in excess of R2 billion.
