A
rusha is known as the gateway to the northern tourist
circuit which links visitors to some of the most beauti-
ful tourist attractions such as the Mount Kilimanjaro,
Ngorongoro, Serengeti, Tarangire, Lake Natron and Eyasi.
Recent developments in the city that also houses the EAC
headquarters has seen the skyline change with one of the latest
addition being the Jakaya Kikwete Ngorongoro Tower. Named
after former President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, the towering
Jakaya Kikwete Ngorongoro Tower ( JKNT) is owned and
managed by the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority
(NCAA).
The JKNT project, once completed at the end of July 2018,
will be a mixed-use project with financial institutions, retail/
shops, offices, restaurants and hotel apartments that serve an
advantage over the other buildings, as the beauty and aesthetic
qualities of the building captures the attention of prospective
tenants.
Located at the heart of downtown Arusha along Goliondoi
Road and Makongoro Road, the property is ideally situated
in a neighbourhood that includes the AICC, Regional Police
Station, East African Community, Palace Hotel, Bank Of
Tanzania, Tanzania Revenue Authority and Arusha Regional
Offices.
The 17 storey building which is owned by Ngorongoro
Conservation Area Authority (NCAA) is so far the tallest
building in Arusha City. It was designed by Afri-Arch As-
sociates featuring Maasai Bomas commonly referred to as
‘Emanyata’.

one-stop centre for tourism where all Tourism activities will
be carried out under one roof.
“The Authority welcomes all Tourism stakeholders ranging
from Airlines, Banks and other Financial Institutions, Insur-
ance, Tour Operators and Guides to come and take offices to
this prestigious building.”
And just like many of today’s modern buildings, JKNT has
world class amenities that give tenants peace of mind while on
the premises with 24-hour maximum security.
The building, which stands at 76.85 metres, also boasts two
parking floors which can accommodate 66 internal vehicles
while an adjacent open space is dedicated for ample outside
parking bays for tenants and visitors, water tanks, storage area
plus other modern services.
JKNT also has four commercial floors which will house
the NCAA information centre, Commercial banks, bureau de
changes, restaurants, shopping malls and retails shops.
According to Dr. Camilius Lekule, the architect behind the
design, the building’s life span is expected to be more than a
century from the date of completion.
Apart from boosting tourism, the building is also set to
bring in revenue sources for the government.
