Ferdi Abrahams: My mission is simple- elevate the agent experience. This role is about more than leadership; it’ s about listening, collaborating, and acting on what our agents need to grow. I believe in open-door leadership, both for business strategy and personal support.

Q: Steve, you were one of the founding forces behind eXp South Africa. What inspired that bold move?

Steve Johnstone: Having been a real estate trainer for almost 20 years, I faced the same challenge many agents face, no exit strategy. I was stuck on a treadmill: when I stopped training or speaking, I stopped earning. When I saw eXp’ s model especially the revenue share opportunity, I realised this could be a life-changing shift. What drew me in was the potential to use my industry network and hard work to build something lasting. Now, instead of going it alone, I get to work alongside like-minded leaders, growing something meaningful together.

Q: What attracted each of you to the eXp model?

Ferdi: Freedom. Flexibility. Ownership. eXp’ s platform gives agents the tools to scale without limits. From a five-person team to 205 + agents, I’ ve seen firsthand how this model changes lives.
Steve: For me, it’ s about opportunity and alignment. This isn’ t just a real estate agency, it’ s a global movement. We’ re not here to compete with each other; we’ re here to grow together. The revenue share, equity, cloudbased tools, it all creates a flywheel of success.

Q: You both emphasise mentorship and growth. Why does that matter at eXp?

Ferdi: Because this is a business built by agents, for agents. We’ re not climbing a corporate ladder, we’ re linking arms to build something better.
Steve: Mentorship is the multiplier. My goal has always been to create value at scale, not just through one-on-one support but through shared tools, training, and community.
Whether it’ s through team meetings like our biweekly“ Family Time,” national conferences, or masterminds with top performers, I’ ve found that helping others grow creates the strongest ripple effect. Your success is our success.
