MASTER PROFILE
Born and raised in Cape Town and schooled at Rondebosch Boy’ s High, Mike comes from a lineage with strong property instincts.
“ My grandfather was brilliant with property,” he recalls.“ I realised it might be in my genes.”
After an unsuccessful run in the sweets business, Mike knew he had to make a change. He joined Pam Golding and sold a house on his first day. That instant success lit the fire.“ It’ s like a drug,” he says.
“ When it bites, you realise the clarity of the transaction, the potential to earn, and the lack of common business headaches.”
From there, Mike rapidly moved up, joining Seeff and eventually coowning a large regional license. By 2001, he launched Greeff Properties from home, closing R104 million in deals his first year. The rest, as they say, is history.
Building a Boutique Powerhouse
“ We got 90 % market share in Zwaanswyk,” he recalls proudly. He never borrowed money again after hard lessons from his previous venture. Instead, he ran the business with a“ war chest,” always prepared for tough times.
Under his leadership, the company hit the R1 billion turnover mark, a standout achievement in a competitive market. His approach? Candour, structure, and servant leadership.“ I serve this company and its people.”
A Family Legacy and The Christie’ s Effect
A defining move came in 2013, when Mike aligned Greeff with Christie’ s International Real Estate, one of the world’ s most prestigious luxury property brands. This lifted the agency’ s status dramatically and attracted top-tier agents and clients.
Mike is also proud of grooming his son Tim Greeff, now the Regional Sales Director and a shareholder.“ He’ s astute, business-minded, and has earned his place. The plan is for him to take the reins.”
